Alan "Burt" Cooke

Alan Burton Cooke (Burt), 92 of Elizabethtown, KY passed away peacefully at the Radcliff Veteran Center January 3, 2024. He was born May 20, 1931, in Champaign, IL, grew up in Hardin and Larue Counties, graduated from Elizabethtown High School. Graduated from Western Kentucky University. He served his country in the Army before working for the Hardin County School System for 30 years in Industrial Arts and various administrative positions. One of his greatest pleasures was being the Scoutmaster for Troop 130 in Elizabethtown, and spending time in the outdoors. He was very creative, loved building everything from houses to furniture and with wood and metal. He used his many talents serving White Mills Christian Camp for over 30 years. He was an active member of First Christian Church in Elizabethtown, KY for over 65 years and held many leadership roles. Burt was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Florence Routt Cooke and his wife Jean Monin Cooke of 67 years, his brother Russell Cooke, sisters; Gelene Stivers, Regina Castenada, and his grandson David Cooke. He survived by his children Mark Cooke (Jan) of Glendale, KY and Terry Cooke of Elizabethtown, KY; his grandsons Alan Cooke (Jessica) of Scarsdale, NY, Drew Cave of Radcliff, KY and Justin Cave of Chattanooga, TN; three great granddaughters, Caia, Quinn, and Jade Cooke; and sister-in-law Bertha Monin of Tullahoma, TN. The funeral is 1 P.M. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Don Tarter officiating. Burial follows in Glendale Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 A.M. and continues until the time of service.
