Mary Catherine "Cathy" Thomas Brown of Elizabethtown, Kentucky passed away Monday, June 19, 2023. She was a life long resident of Hardin County, and a 1959 graduate of Rineyville High School. She was a 60 year member of St. James Catholic Church where she remained active in many committees including the Bereavement Committee. She was one of the founding members of the local Saint Vincent de Paul Society and was still actively volunteering. Cathy's life centered around God, Family and helping others. Cathy and her husband Bob co-founded Brown Funeral Home in 1972 where she worked as a funeral director until retirement. She is preceded in in death by her parents, Lawrence and Mary Agnes Thomas, and seven older brothers: Francis Thomas, Joe Thomas, James "Mac" Thomas, Russell Thomas, Phillip Thomas, Earl Thomas and Robert "Bobby" Thomas. Cathy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert M. "Bob" Brown, 5 children, Jeanne (Mike) McKinley, Lora (Timmy) Dixon, Melissa (Wade) Lang, Mike (Missy) Brown, and Tommy (Amy) Brown. She has eleven grandchildren: Morgan (Josh) Eck, Rachelle (Kirk) Sweeney, Zak McKinley, Sydney Lang, Carly (Nolan) Melton, Ryan Lang, Ally Brown, Emma Brown, Ella Brown, Satchel Brown and Taylor Bell and three great grandchildren: Lainey, Porter, and Kolton Eck and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky with burial immediately following in the St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 23, 2023 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will continue after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24 at Brown Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
