Condolences - Frances Ramsey Greenwell

Frances was so giving of her time and energy. She was always present for band activities no matter where they were. Her children were very fortunate to be hers. I enjoyed teaching her children at Helmwood Heights, and working alongside her as a band parent.

I'm so sorry to hear of Frances passing. I followed her on facebook and through Christmas letters and had no idea she was sick. We were roommates at IU medical center and she was in my wedding. My sincere condolences to Bernie and her much loved family.

My mother died from cancer 50 years ago when she was 52. Two things said at her funeral. Life is like a book with filled out pages and and blank pages. The pastor urged us to thank God for the completed pages, the years we had with her and not fret over the empty pages, the years we didn't have her. Lastly he read Romans 8:18. I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us. This verse has given me much comfort and assurance since her transport to Heaven.

Before, but especially after my mother’s death, Frances was so kind to include us (Chuck’s mother and father-in-law) in all family gatherings. She had the gift of hospitality and generosity and loved exercising those gifts. Regardless of the cost of pecans, we could always expect a BIG tin of sugared nuts every Christmas. She made beautiful photo calendars that were like scrapbooks, specific to our family. I have saved all of them and looked forward to them every year. We enjoyed sharing our grandchildren and we enjoyed a shared vacation a few months ago in her beloved MI. She fits the Proverbs 31 wife and mother. “Her children…and her husband praise her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done…” I honor you and will miss you, Friend.
