Joseph Earl Bennett, age 87, of Cecilia, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville. Joseph retired as service manager at Les Pinkham Lincoln Mercury, where he was treated as one of the family. Customers respected him for his strong values and honesty. He enjoyed spending time outside working in the yard, mowing, growing flowers and a small garden. He was a faithful Christian man, and served as a Deacon in the Baptist church. He was a loving husband to his wife of 67 years, and a wonderful father to his two daughters. They were proud to be called "Joe Bennett's daughters." Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Hazel Bennett; a sister, Jaquetta Inell Sheroan; infant sister, Opal; infant brother, Walter; brothers, Jerry Lee Bennett and Jethro Otis Bennett; sister, Josephine Goodman-Hoskinson; and a step-grandson, Robby Ash. He is survived by his wife, Lelia Mae Gray Bennett; two daughters, Viola Natalia Bennett Ash (Bobby) and Donna Jo Bennett (Tracy); one grandson, Alex Joseph Ash (Lexy Despain) and one great-granddaughter, Lydia Michelle Ash.Private services with family only were held at Brown Funeral Home with burial following at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org or the charity of your choice.Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
