George Stiles, 73 of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024. George was a graduate of Elizabethtown Catholic High School and Elizabethtown Community College. He retired from Elizabethtown Laundry and Dry Cleaning Co, where he was part-owner. He was a deacon at Nolynn Baptist Church in Hodgenville, KY. He was a member of the Liars Coffee Club which met at Hardee’s each morning, and an avid Kentucky Wildcats fans. George was dedicated to his family and delighted in his grandsons, who loved to spend time with their beloved Pop-Pop. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ellen Hartlage Stiles and Roy Stiles; a brother, Chris Stiles; two brothers-in-law, Bob Ecker and Erv Mertzlufft; and a niece, Pam Mertzlufft. George is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon Pickerell Stiles and daughter Bethany (Luke) Shearrow; three grandsons, Parker, Camden, and Levi Shearrow, all of Elizabethtown; and brothers and sisters, Fr. Roy Stiles of Louisville, Nancy Mertzlufft of Columbia, MO, Jane Ecker of Louisville, Joe (Sharon) Stiles of Owatonna, MN, Sienna Hooper of Lexington, Greg (Lynn) Stiles of Alpharetta, GA, and Matt (Jeannie) Stiles of Bardstown; and eighteen nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
