Mary Devine Isham, 97, passed away peacefully at her home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, on February 26, 2024 after a long and fruitful life. She was surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 20, 1926 in Willisburg, Kentucky to John and Maud Devine. Mary was a faithful member of Severns Valley Baptist Church for 71 years. She served her Lord and her church in so many capacities including working with children, young adults, Vacation Bible School, cooking meals in the kitchen, summer mission trips, and singing in the choir. Her baking and cooking skills were known throughout her church, friends and family. She specialized in hospitality and always provided a welcoming smile and kindness to everyone she met. Additionally, she shared her talent for ceramics as she taught many in the community in the basement of her home. She was also a skilled seamstress, crocheter and master at crewel embroidery. Mary was simply amazing during her later years as she continued the independent nature that defined her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Carl Rose Isham. Mary is survived by a daughter, Melissa McGrew, and a grandson, Mason Carl McGrew. She loved her adoptive granddaughters Allison Case, Amanda Case Yates, and Sarah Berry like her own. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to Joann Phelps and Shirley Spivey for their dedicated and compassionate care for Mary over the last several months. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Severns Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Emory Riley officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Severns Valley Baptist Church.
