Ronald "Ronnie" Ellis, 74, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital surrounded by his mother and siblings. Ronnie was born on March 10, 1949 to Tony and Margie Ellis. He was a resident of Oakwood Intermediate Care Facility alongside his sister, Jeanie. Ronnie was a gentle soul that loved listening to music, being read to, and getting hugged and kissed on. He taught everyone that met him that every person needed to be treated with dignity and respect. In Heaven, he will be able to do things his earthly body couldn't do. On Earth, we will miss his big smile and beautiful blue eyes. He was preceded in death by his father, Tony; two brothers, Bobby and Randy; and an infant sister, Carolyn. Survivors include his mother, Margie Ellis; his siblings, Jeanie Ellis, Rick Ellis (Pam), Cheri Ellis-Reeves (Bruce), and Karen House (Charley); many nieces and nephews; and his caregivers and family at Oakwood. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Michael Wimsatt officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
