Carolyn Mae Ashford, 81 of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023 at her home. She was a native of Battletown and a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church. She retired after 27 years from Fort Knox Civil Service and 19 years with Flint Inc. She loved writing poetry and stories, working in the garden with her flowers, walking outside and sending birthday cards. Carolyn was a reading volunteer at schools and loved writing her devotions and her Jesus more than anything. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Chris Iversen; her parents, Dolfis and Virginia Padgett and a sister, Brenda Padgett. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Roy Ashford; three sons, Kevin (Huetta) Graham, Spencer Ashford and Steven (Julie) Ashford; three daughters, Darlene (Lynn) Gillespie, Sandy Iversen and Victoria Taylor; one brother, Leo (Wavel) Padgett; one sister, Sharon (Forrest) Berry and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Kerr officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm and continue after 9 am Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Clarity Solutions for Women.
