Barbara Lee Johnson, 81, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was born in Hardin County and graduated from Lynnvale High School in 1960. In 1961 she moved to Lexington where she volunteered with the Dame's Club at Cardinal Hill Childrens Hospital. She worked at the Lansdowne Company as the office manager and bookkeeper for 50 plus years. She Retired after 50 years, and during her time there she was admired and respected by many of Lexington professionals, as well as friends and coworkers. Barbara and her husband Jerry were owners of One Hour Photo in Lexington and Elizabethtown for 20 years. Together they managed Heaven Sent Arabians, for over 30 years. They were charter members and founders of the Bluegrass Arabian Horse Association where she served as secretary and treasurer from 2000-2017. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gerald "Jerry" Johnson; one daughter, Laura Branstetter (Greg) all of Lexington; sister, Linda Miller (Mike) of Eastview; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 25 at Brown Funeral Home. Burial follows in White Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Bluegrass Hospice care.
