Virginia Mae "Peggy" Kelley Morehead, 99 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Baptist Health Hardin surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jefferson County. She was a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church where she taught 4- and 5-year-old Sunday School for several years, was a member of the choir, and the Senior Citizens. She worked for Honeycrust Bakery, Coca Cola Plant and Needlecraft and volunteered at Elizabethtown Nursing Home for many years. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Forest E. Morehead; her parents, Ernest Kelley and Edna Pearl Estes Henderson; a grandson, Timmy Larue; a son-in-law, Gilbert Larue and her siblings, Bud Henderson, Bob Henderson, Ken Henderson, Judy Henderson Smith, Margaret Henderson and Carol "Frankie" Fowler. Survivors include her two sons, Dale (Kathy) Morehead and Bobby Morehead all of Elizabethtown; her daughter, Janice Larue of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Jean (Gary) Powell and Gale (Carroll) Stivers; grandchildren, Dawn (Tim) Yates, Eric Morehead and Lori (Dennis) Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Tyler Larue of Buffalo and Kelley Yates and Katie (Charles) Goodman of Elizabethtown and great-great-grandchildren, Kimber and Case Larue. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Valley Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Don Flanagan officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
