Joseph David Vowels, 77 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at his home. He was a native of Vine Grove and served in the U.S. Army. He retired as a sub contractor from Fort Knox Civil Service, was an avid fisherman and Kentucky Wildcats fan. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lewis and Carrie Elizabeth French Vowels and two brothers, James L. Vowels and Donnie Vowels. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hudson-Vowels; one brother, Gary Vowels; one sister, Marge Riley; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Vowels and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Visitation begins after 11 a.m. Saturday and continues until the time of the service. Burial follows at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Refuge Animal Shelter in Vine Grove or St. Jude Children's Hospital in remembrance of David.
