Roy Eugene Yates, 96 of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 30, 2023. He was a native of Hardin County and retired from Nolin RECC after over 32 plus years of service. He was a member of Five Stone Church, formaly Trinity Wesleyan, for over 65 years. He was an Army Veteran and devoted time to prison ministry. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 76 years, Eva Maxine Yates and his parents, Roy Lee Yates and Clara Young; and his siblings, Dottie Peters, Edith Stillwell, twins, Doris and Nora Yates, Barb Miller, Norma Yates, and Jimmy and Earl Yates. Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bobby and Sue Sherrard and Chris and Charles Sherrard, and Paula Kaye Wheeler. The funeral is Tuesday at 11 am at Brown Funeral Home. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm and continues after 9 am Tuesday at the funeral home.
