Everett Carl "Buster" Roof, 92 of Elizabethtown, died Monday, September 25, 2023 at Baptist Health Hardin. He was a native of Hudson, Kentucky. He and his wife, Lila Dennis Roof were long time members of the Hudson Community Church in Breckinridge County and had a very blessed ministry as members of the Hudson Gospel Five and the Gospel Travelers gospel music groups. He was retired from Campbell Hausfield after working 25 years at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company before the company's move to Georgia. He loved his wife, family, friends, church and community. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Lila Jean Dennis Roof; a grandson, Christopher J. Speers, his parents, Inez Roof and George L. Roof, two sisters, Ruth Stice and Rhuelma Oller, and a brother, Norman G. Roof. Survivors include three daughters, Sheila Speers and husband, Jim, Kimberly Hunt and husband, David, Nancy Hatfield and husband, Billy, grandchildren: Brandon Speers, Stephanie Speers, Rebecca Miranda (Matthew), Joshua Aubrey (Rachael), Bradley Hunt (Aimee), Elizabeth Christensen (Dennis), Holly Hatfield. Great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Andrew & Ryker Speers, Brooklyn & Addy Aubrey, Riley, Camden & Connor Christensen, Audrey & Ella Hunt, Jackson, Colin & Vivian Miranda, one sister, Judy Roof Gentry and many very wonderful friends and family. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. EST at Hudson Community Church with Pastor Jim McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in Hudson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. EST Thursday at Brown Funeral Home and continue from 11 to 2 p.m. EST Friday at Hudson Community Church.
