Marion Kenneth "Dodo" Hayden

Marion Kenneth "Dodo" Hayden passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2023 at the age of 92. Born not of words, but of deeds, he spent a life dedicated to family, farming and community service. Arriving on March 27th, 1931, on the Hayden family farm in Cecilia, KY where he lived his 92 years, he was a 1949 graduate of Howevalley High School and a 1953 graduate of the University of Kentucky's College of Agriculture. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and later taught 6th grade math at Lincoln Trail Elementary. He loved farming, promoting agriculture and developing young farmers for the future. He served a variety of agricultural organizations during his lifetime, receiving numerous accolades, including Farm Bureau, U.S. Feed Grain Council, KY Corn Growers and Small Grains Association, and was on the Hardin County School Board for 15 years serving as Chairman on 3 occasions. He served his local community in Cecilia in a number of capacities including Treasurer of the Ruritan Association for over 30 years. He valued community service and while he led with his actions, he also loved a great conversation. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 61-years, Karolyn, his favorite daughter-in-law, Dr. Marguerethe Jaede, PhD, two grandkids, Riley and Ella, with whom he is super proud and coined his nickname "Dodo" and his sons, Steve and Patrick, who are ok too. Services will be at Cecilia Baptist Church, where he attended all 92 years, on Monday, September 11th at noon. Public visitation will be from 10am to noon on same day.
