Theresa Reesor

Theresa Jewell (Julia) McCamish Reesor (Mrs. Fraisur Reesor), of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Monday, July 31, 2023. At 93 years young, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. As beautiful inside as out, she touched so many with her kindness, grace, strength, and unconditional love. One of nine children who grew up during The Great Depression, Theresa was resilient, independent and never a stranger to hard work. She was the first in her family to go to college, attending Nazareth College in Louisville (now Spalding University). She received an Associate's Degree and discovered a passion for interior design that can be seen throughout her home. Following college, she married the love of her life, Fraisur Reesor. They settled in Elizabethtown to start their life together and raise their eight children. They were the epitome of marriage, with a relationship built on faith, love, and perseverance. Fraisur never missed an opportunity to sweep her off her feet in their years together and especially on the dance floor. After his sudden passing in 1995, Theresa stepped in and continued to build upon their life's work managing their farms both in Elizabethtown and Howardstown (now the Rolling Fork Wildlife Management Area), Kentucky, and working at the family's real estate company, Reesor Auction & Realty, until 2022. Theresa cherished any time spent with her family and often traveled around the country to see them. She was an avid texter (and emoji sender), and in recent years joined Facebook and Zoom calls to keep up with her 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Celebrating milestones was important, Theresa never let a birthday or anniversary pass without a card, nor missed a baptism, graduation, or wedding. Her home, where she made everyone feel welcome, was filled with love and laughter, and the smells of home cooking. During the holidays, her homemade chicken and dumplings were a staple. She also had a sweet tooth and kept a stash of chocolate treats, brownies, or ice cream on hand to share. In her downtime, she enjoyed gardening, reading, renovating her historic home, and shopping. She also had a competitive side and was always up for a game of cards or dominos (which she often won), and rarely missed an episode of the Wheel of Fortune (usually solving the puzzles before the contestants and anyone watching with her). Theresa was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown. Even when traveling with family she rarely missed a service. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Fraisur A. Reesor; a daughter Theresa Diane; her parents, Everett H. and Mary Ellen Ray McCamish; four brothers, Paul, Joseph, Charles and Donald McCamish; and three sisters, Hettie Best, Rosaline Thomas, and Pauline Reesor. Survivors include eight children, Dennis (Linda) Reesor of Lexington, Donna (Russell) Boyd of Elizabethtown, Steve (Connie) Reesor of Radcliff, Vivian (Rick) Baumgardner of Glendale, Janice Reesor of Big Clifty, Beverly Ivey of Elizabethtown, David Reesor (Debbie) of Elizabethtown, Mary Ann (Pete) Benson of Winchester; one sister Mary Hufford of Pennsylvania; 21 grandchildren, Dee (April) Reesor, Jennifer Reesor, Alex Reesor, Aimee (Jimmy) Boyd Coffey, Selena Boyd, Lindsey Boyd, Nicole (Lee) Curtis, Danielle (Steve) Blandford, Kayla (Travis) Prewitt, Allison Baumgardner (Larry Ashlock), Melissa (Aaron) Hawkins, Rachel (Drew) Coomer, Erick Baumgardner, Carl (Charito) Corvin, Jr., Chad (Erin) Corvin, Cassie Corvin (Ben Delong), Ashley (Matt) Shields, Elizabeth (Zach) Smith, Reese (Chelsea) Benson, Parker Benson, Shelby Benson, and 29 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
