Leonard Borders

Leonard Borders, 67 of Glendale, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown. He was self-employed and owned his own sanitation company for many years. Later he worked for Waste Transport and Santek. He loved junk cars and scrap. It didn't matter if he was buying or selling. He was always looking to make a deal. He never met a stranger and talked to everyone. Leonard was always willing to help anyone with whatever they needed, usually expecting nothing in return. He loved his wife and family with all that he had, always making sure that they were taken care of and had everything they wanted and needed. He took great pride in being a father, grandfather and especially a great- grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Martha Smallwood Borders; his parents, Henry and Lucy Jane Borders; a sister, Brenda Borders; and a brother, Sammy Borders. He is survived by one son, Mike Smallwood (Lisa) of Glendale; one daughter, Hope Rogers (David) of Sonora; four grandchildren, Matt Jones (Alicia), Kayla Rohlff (Tyler), Christyn Gierman (Chris) and Hannah Smallwood; three great- grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Cason Floyd, Abram Rohlff, and Olivia Perkins; one brother, Wayne Borders (Susan); and many other family members and close ones. The funeral is Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Randy Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Howevalley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and continue after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
