Garry Russell Knight

Garry Russell Knight, 76 of Elizabethtown, loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 surrounded by family in Moore Haven, FL. He was a native of Yakima, WA. Garry proudly served in the U.S. Army, 114th Aviation Company, using his auto body and fender training to repair Huey helicopters in Vietnam. He loved southern gospel quartet music, was a deacon at Mill Creek Baptist Church, later at Severns Valley Baptist Church, and a member of the Elizabethtown Emmaus Community, Walk 65. Garry was a true jack-of-all-trades, small business owner in Radcliff and retired from the Hardin County Detention Center as a Deputy Jailer. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Marnell Fisher Knight, for 49 wonderful years, raising a family and serving their churches. In 2020, God blessed Garry with the second love of his life, Vickie Green. Together they enjoyed serving God and many new adventures. They always found joy in their journeys. Garry was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Marnell Knight; his parents, Peter J. and Novella Knight and a brother, Darrell Joe Knight. Survivors include two children, Royce (Jennifer) Knight of West Milford, NJ and Kari Hay of Louisville; his wife Vickie Green Knight; one sister, Wilma (Wallace) Coffman of Kennewick, WA; six grandchildren, Carter, Skylar, Riley and Mason Knight; Luke and Carly Hay; and five nieces. He is also survived by two bonus children, Toni (Albert) Tuttle-Mata and Rick (Christina) Green and their families including eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday, July 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Severns Valley Baptist Church with Pastors Ray Hicks and Emory Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be Sunday, July 9 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home and continue after 9 a.m. Monday at Severns Valley Baptist Church.
