Dale Monroe Lyons, 78 of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Glasgow and a member of College Heights Church where he was known as papaw Dale to all. He was a retired truck driver and formerly worked for Etown Pharmacy and Etown Exterminating. Dale never met a stranger, was a strong Christian, loved his family and playing with grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe and Marietta Parrott Lyons. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jane Foster Lyons; two children, Charles Franklin Lyons and Dala Lyons Louthan both of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Jimmy Lyons of Knoxville TN and Tommy Lyons of Cave City; two grandchildren, Austin Dale Louthan (Kala) and Kellie Janell Louthan (David) and four great-grandchildren, Brantley James, Lakyn Wayne, Angel and Briala. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at College Heights Church with Rev. Don Cox and Ernie Bagley officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home and continue after 11 a.m. Friday at College Heights Church. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
