Mildred H. Bird Morris of Elizabethtown passed away on May 13, 2023, at her residence. She was a long-time member of Severns Valley Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Rineyville Baptist Church to attend church with her family. After graduating from Rineyville High School, she worked with J.J. Newberry's and later became a telephone operator for the phone company. She retired from Hardin Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator to provide childcare for her granddaughter. This was the calling she loved most. She was a wonderful, supportive, loving "Nanny" to all of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Morris; her parents, Josh Bird and Ella Bird; four sisters, Pauline Gray, Della Mae Smithers, Lorene Magnoni, and Mattie Bird; and two brothers, Clifford at four years old, and Jesse, an infant. She is survived by two loving children, Ronnie Morris and Joella (Mark) Nall; four grandchildren, Brett Morris, Amber (Daniel) Burgess, Kimberly (Cameron) Cochran, and Bailey (Fernando) Carmona; and three great-grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were her world, and she is greatly missed by all of them. The funeral will be Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, with Bro.
