She was born on Monday November 5, 1934 to Shelby and Bessie Goodman, was a beloved and cherished member of Rough Creek Baptist Church. Ruthie was blessed with a beautiful voice and found great enjoyment singing for and to her Lord. She was employed at J.J. Newberry's Department Store and the Old Dairy Queen before becoming a full-time wife and mother. After spending 88 years in this world, Ruth will be best remembered for her very sweet nature. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Compton; siblings, Raymond Goodman, Sr., Lourine Bohannon, Luester Stevens, Dorothy Collins and Mary Stella and one great-granddaughter, Peyton Mae Curtsinger. Even though she will be greatly missed by her family and friends, we are rejoicing in the knowledge that she is in a glorious place with loved ones and more importantly, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where he has promised there shall be no more pain (Rev 21:4) The funeral will be Saturday at 12 noon at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Kasper Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Pole Bridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and continue after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
