Edward Junior Horton, age 91 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Baptist Health Hardin, surrounded by his loving family. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years, having served in both Korea and Vietnam. He received the Vietnam Service Medal during the Vietnam Campgaign as well as a Meritorious Unit Citation for Good Conduct. He also retired from Elizabethtown Community College after 20 years of service. A devoted family man, he was known as a fun storyteller. In addition to his wife, Jimmie Lee Horton, he was preceded in death by his parents, R.L. Horton and Lucille "Jessie" Walker, and a great grandson, Tre Gilmore. Survivors include his three daughters, Stephanie R. Jones and Angela R. Horton of Elizabethtown, and Michele Horton of Nashville, TN: two sons, James E. Horton of Elizabethtown and Tarris "Troy" (Tammy) Horton of Alexandria, KY; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The funeral is at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Willie Scott officiating. Burial follows in the Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and on Saturday after 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to homeless veterans, the Carl M.
