Rick Roby, 54 of Cecilia, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at his home. He was a native of Nelson County and was a member of Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church. He was an auctioneer at Hodges Auction, ran his construction company and handled real estate for over 30 years. He began his construction company with Curtis Willoughby. Rick and his wife helped start Hardin County Free Healthcare Clinic. He enjoyed volunteering his time and farm with 4-H. He was the modern day Mr. Tunstall from Young Guns as he helped reform young men in the area. "My beloved husband, my partner in life, a warrior, a man who believed in faith, family, and country. He is fully restored, but will be greatly missed." He was preceded in death by his father, Charles "Frog" Roby; and his sister-in-law, Tonya Brown. Surviviors include his wife of 31 years, Shelley Roby of Cecilia; his mother, Trudy Roby of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Montana and Savannah Roby; his sister, Brenda (Joe) Doom; his niece and nephew, Megan (Levi) Knight and Henry (Brianna) Doom; his in-laws, Paul and Lois Burba; two brother-in-laws, David Brown and his children, McKenzie and Will; and Jackie (Shannon) Burba and their children, Maddie, Molly, and Matthew Paul. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 14th at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 11 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Reins or Mercy Ministries.
