Madeleine L. Sims, 82, of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville. Madeleine was a homemaker and a member of Tunnel Hill Baptist Church. She loved to knit and crochet; her specialty was making baby blankets and Afghans. She loved to read, embroider, and work puzzles. Madeleine loved her cat, Mr. Cheyenne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Sims; two sons, Michael Sims and James Sims; three brothers, Louis, Paul, and Henri; two grandchildren, Christina Martin and Jacob Patrick Sims; and her parents, Auguste and Madeleine. She is survived by a son, Glenn (LeaOna) Sims, of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Diana (Tim) Cecil of Caneyville; grandchildren, Jessica, Abigail, Katherine, Alex, Nicole, and Heather; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. The graveside service is private. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Norton’s Children’s Hospital Foundation, American Red Cross, or our local animal shelter.
