Mary Ellen Edmondson Bryan

Mary Ellen Edmondson Bryan, 70 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was a native of Hardin County, a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and retired from the Larue County School System. Mary Ellen lived a simple, faith-filled life, strong in her Catholic faith. She was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and family. She had a charitable heart, always in service to others. No matter the situation, personal background or environment, her loving, caring smile created instant connections. She loved animals, nature, and all living beings. Her meticulous organizational skills served her as a school secretary and at home. Mary Ellen was an avid UK and Notre Dame fan and her hobbies included painting, crafts, tending her garden, crocheting, and most importantly, attending all her grandchildrens events. Thank you to the many kind helpers along the way that have supported her during her journey. Deepest gratitude to all who prayed, sent cards, and made meals. Every gesture made a difference. Thank you to the U of L Hospital staff that provided compassionate care. Mary Ellen is forever greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, William Millard and Mary Louise Edmondson and a brother, John E. Edmondson. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ron Bryan; two sons, Ben (Danielle) Bryan of Elizabethtown and Jon Paul (Tiffany) Bryan of Knoxville, TN; three brothers, William H. Edmondson (Mauhee) and Joseph M. Edmondson (Lou) all of Elizabethtown and Robert M. Edmondson of CT; one sister, Ruth Ann Edmondson of Elizabethtown and four grandchildren, Sam, Molly, Max and Smith Bryan. Memorial Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Ben Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or your favorite charity. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
