Aubin Leo Mattingly, 87 of Rineyville, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at his home after a quick decline from a number of serious health issues. He was born in Rineyville on December 10, 1934, to Joseph Guy and Mary Virginia Pate Mattingly. A lifelong dairy farmer, he was known for his love of the Lord and his family and his utter devotion to his bride Wanda. Aubin and Wanda were faithful members of Grace Heartland Church since early in its inception. They were active in the prayer ministry, and he was a regular part of the monthly Men's Breakfast. He and Wanda were active in promoting the dairy industry for the majority of their adult lives. They regularly worked in the Dairy Products booth at the state fair educating the public. Aubin was a founding member of the Hardin County chapter of the NFO (National Farmers Organization). Additionally, he served as both a State Director and officer, as well as a National Director of that organization for decades. He felt a serious obligation to serve and represent on other boards that directly supported dairy farmers and extended educational outreach, and he spent the last half of his long and busy life doing so. Those boards included the ADA (American Dairy Association), the KDDC (Kentucky Dairy Development Council), the Dairy Alliance (formerly known as SUDIA the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association), DFA (Dairy Farmers of America) and the Hardin County Fair Board. He was a very proud graduate of the 1953 class of Rineyville High School and enjoyed participating in Rineyville Days parades with his antique tractors. He especially enjoyed sharing those tractors with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Aubin is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Wanda; his sons, infant, David and Richard Mattingly; his parents, Guy and Virginia Mattingly; a brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Olivia Mattingly; sister and brother-in-law, Nada and Jimmy Howell; and brother-in-law, Hilary Skees. He is survived by one son, Glenn (Nancy) Mattingly of Rineyville; one daughter, Denise (Terry) Joy of Elizabethtown; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Mattingly of Glasgow; grandchildren, Heather Keen, Ashley (Gunner) Brown, Brittany (Duane) Albriecht, Stephanie (Kelly) Dillon, Shelby and Morgan Joy, Chastity Milby and Jonathan Mattingly; great grandchildren, Steven Keen, Easton and Gabbie Milby, McKinley Mattingly, and Sasha Dillon, brother Raeburn (Nelly) Mattingly; sisters, Winona Skees of Rineyville and Diane (Oren) Dulaney of Valley Station; the Bickett family brothers and sisters, by both blood and marriage, that Wanda gifted to him; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral is Friday, October 21st at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Heartland Church with Pastor Jeff Noel officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 20th at Brown Funeral Home and continues Friday at the church after 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow alongside his wife, Wanda and their son, David, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery in Rineyville.
