Curtis Jake South, 93 of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022 at his home. He served in the U.S. Army, attended Cecilia Baptist Church and was a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Amanda South; and his brothers, Gordon, Wallace, Frank, Eugene, Raymond, John, Charles, and Holmes South. Survivors include his wife, Mildred G. Mayfield South; one son, Steven (Joyce) Mayfield; one daughter, Vonda Mayfield; a sister, Pauline South Kerr; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral is Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Donnie Davis officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continues after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
