Robert (Bob) Love

Robert (Bob) Love, 81, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where he resided since 2007. Bob moved from Michigan to Louisville, Kentucky in 1984 to serve as the original Membership Coordinator for the Valhalla Golf Club. He later taught mathematics at Desales, Waggener, and Seneca High Schools in Louisville; and also taught at the Breckinridge Metropolitan High School in Louisville and McKendree University, Radcliff campus. After moving to Elizabethtown, he taught at T.K. Stone Middle School. A native of Port Huron, Michigan, Bob earned a Bachelors degree from Wayne State University, and his Masters degree from Michigan State University. In addition to his teaching career, he was a long-standing tennis educator. He became a Certified Master Professional in the U.S. Professional Tennis Association in 1983; and was inducted into the Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame in 2010. In addition to his remarkable skill and love for tennis, Bob enjoyed singing and was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church choir, and also sang at the Cecilia Baptist Church. Having served in the Air Force, he was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 3 and American Legion Post 113. Bob is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years, JoAnn Love of Elizabethtown. He is also survived by his older brother Dalton (Don) Love and his wife Peggy of Elyria, Ohio. At Bobs request, there was no formal memorial service or visitation. Interment was at the Boston Christian Church cemetery, Boston, Kentucky. Memorial donations may be sent to Raise a Racket Foundation, a USTA Kentucky Endowment Fund, to benefit tennis players, facilities, and programs throughout the state of Kentucky.
