Lewis Dale Johnson, 74 of Big Clifty, passed away on Friday, May 20, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He retired as an operator with Union Local 181 and was a member of the Summit Church of Christ. He was an active member of the Butler County and Daviess County Conservation Clubs. His favorite hobbies were trap shooting and fishing, but he especially loved dirt work and always made time for his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Wilby" and Nellie Nichols Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vanessa Johnson; daughters, Anissa (Curtis) Beeler of Stephensburg, Teresa (Joe) Goff of White Mills, and Amanda (Justin) Napper of Big Clifty; son, Joe (Brittany) Johnson of Garrison; and brother, James R. (Loretta) Johnson of Elizabethtown. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, including Ellie and Sydna Johnson; Kayla (Kyle) Saylor; Emily and Nathan Beeler; Shayne "Andy" and Amber Johnson; Brian Goff; and Avery, Gracie, and Addi Napper; one great grandson, Raylan Saylor; soon-to-be great grandson Xander Grey Walker; and beloved pet "Dexter." The funeral is at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Beauchamp and Joe Johnson officiating. Visitation is from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and continues after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Meeting Creek Cemetery in Eastview after the service.
