Harold Ray Lewis

Harold Ray Lewis, age 95, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at his residence in Glendale, Kentucky. He was a native of Hardin County, a member of Cecilia United Methodist Church (recently attended Glendale United Methodist Church), a veteran of World War II, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Stephensburg Lodge #212 for 70 years. He was a respected and valued neighbor who was loved by his costumers, community, friends, and family. He left high school to serve in World War II with the Merchant Marines. After completing his military service, he graduated from Howevalley High School and worked on the Illinois Central Railroad. He married Eunice Aline Duncan and began working at the Cecilia Garage and Coal Company in April of 1947. In 1964, Harold and Aline purchased the business where they worked and became co-owners of Lewis Equipment Company, later named Cecilia Tractor Service. Harold worked at the same location by the railroad tracks in Cecilia, KY, for 71 years (1947-2018). He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Eunice Aline Lewis; by his parents, John Terrell Lewis, Jr. and Nellie Long Lewis, and a brother, Joseph Lewis. He is survived by two daughters, Janet (Richard) Heit, and Linda (Jerry) Pence; a son, Marshall (Linda) Lewis; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Terrell Lewis; a sister, Imogene Litsey, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to Kim J., Kim C., Mary, Jean, Tina, Elaine, and Linda for providing excellent care. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the funeral home and continue after 9 a.m. on Thursday. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the funeral home.
