Lula "Lu" Akers Thomas, 85 of Elizabethtown, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at RobinBrooke Senior Living. She was a native of Larue County and a member of St. James Catholic Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul Society, the American Cancer Society, and previously sat on the Hospice Board. She spent the first half of her adult life raising six children. Entered banking in 1975 where she had a distinguished career as Director of Marketing at Citizens Bank and later President of Ft. Knox National Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Randal Thomas; a son, Keith Thomas; her parents, Jasper Hayes Akers and Ortella Myers Akers; two sisters, Rita Nichols Blair and Agnes E. Jones; and her brother, Samuel Akers. She is survived by three sons, David (Connie) Thomas, Mark (Janet) Thomas, and Anthony (Vicki) Thomas; two daughters, Esther (Al) Holley and Teresa (Doug) Gibson; a daughter-in-law, Terri Thomas; a sister, Ann Fulkerson of Elizabethtown; eleven grandchildren, James (Marina) Holley, Lori Fontenot, Jason (Kelsey) Thomas, Emily (Austin) Howell, Will (Jennifer) Thomas, Rachel (Brandon) Holmes, Leah (Zach) Reynolds, Amy Thomas, Hayes (Sara)Thomas, Taylor Thomas, and Kathryn Thomas; and ten great- grandchildren. Memorial services will be Wednesday, February 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Neil Janes officiating. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
