Naomi "Sue" Chafins Barrett, 83 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at her home. She was a native of Itmann, WV, a member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church and retired after 23 years from Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer for 8 years at Hardin Memorial Hospital and Signature Nursing Home. She was a dedicated, loving wife and mother and she adored her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayes and Dessie Hart Chafins. Sue is survived by her husband of 67 years, Johnnie Barrett of Elizabethtown; one son, Michael Barrett of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Sherry (Brian) Collier of Lexington; one sister, Lea Atkins of Blacksburg, VA and two grandchildren, Abigail Elise Collier and Isaiah Michael Collier. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Chasteen officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hosparus.
