Melvin John Frye, Sr., 72, of Cecilia, died Monday, January 21, 2019 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. He was a native of Oldham County, and a self-employed mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nora Lee Priddy Frye; a daughter, Melissa Dawn Frye and his siblings, Georgia Lee, Mary Edith, Francis Lamplant, Cecil Frye, James Frye, Thomas Frye and Charles Frye. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Compton Frye; three sons, Melvin Frye, Jr. (Amanda) of Big Clifty, Bill Frye (Tina) of Brandenburg, and Roger Frye (Cookie) of Rineyville; two daughters, Barbara Fox of Rineyville and Barbara Ann Renville (Hezie) of Cecilia; three brothers, his twin, Marvin Frye, David Frye, and Joseph Lamplant; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. John R. Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Howevalley Cemetery.
