Jeanette Yates Chappell

Jeanette Yates Chappell, 84 of Cecilia, passed away at her home Saturday evening, June 9, 2018, with her family by her side. She was a native of Hardin County, a member of Blueball Baptist Church and loved her church dearly. She retired from Hardin Memorial Hospital after 20 years of service and received Ambassader of the Month in 1977. She enjoyed sewing, attending Howevalley Homemakers, Wesley Hilltop for fellowship and playing bunco at the Howevalley Community Building. She enjoyed her annual pajama party and making corn hole bags. What a wonderful blessing she was to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Curt and Gleenie Goodman Yates; a daughter, Clara Rexroat; a son, Ronnie Dale Chappell; a step son, Bobby Chappell; a grandson, Elijah McMillian; a great granddaughter, Jaylynn Clara Grimes; the father of her children, Junior Edward Chappell; five brothers, Robert, Durham, Clarence, Homer and Marion Yates and three sisters, Lois Goodman, Doris Lucas and Etta Hicks. She is survived by two sons, Garnett (Adeline) Chappell and Curtis (Kim) Chappell all of Elizabethtown; four daughters, Freda (Ronnie) Griffin and Wanda (Carl) Edwards all of Cecilia, Pamela Gayle (Herbie) Graham of Elizabethtown and Gloria (James) Mabe of Glasgow; two special cousins, Arthur and Eddie Yates; a son-in-law, Owen Rexcoat of IN; a special friend, Claudie Grimes of Indiana; a sister-in-law, Ollie Yates; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 am at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Moon and Rev. Glenn Cornett officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Blueball Baptist Church.
