George Thomas Coalson, 69, of Stephensburg, died Friday, March 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. In the 1960's George served in the Job Corp then served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam for 2 years at Fort Knox where he met and married his wife, Liz He retired from GE, was a Kentucky Colonel and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Blanche Hedrick Coalson; brother, Earl (Birdie) Coalson; and brother-in-law, Tommy (Irene) Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Liz Campbell Coalson; daughter, Pamela Coalson Gardner; granddaughter, Anastasia Gardner Murphy and husband, Tyler; great grandson, Xavier; his brothers and sisters, Tootsie and Robert Gillispie of WV, Jean (Darrell) Blankenship of GA, Frannie (Bud) Coalson of WV, Joy (Clifford) Murdock of WV, Rita and Jim Blakeley of MD, Dan and Teresa Coalson of WV, Faye and George Rhudy of AZ, Sue Bell and Mack Day of WV, Pam (Russ) Magargal of WV, Roger and Karen Coalson of WV, Bob and Karen Coalson of WV, Teresa Henry of KY, and Mickey Coalson of WV; his extended family, Charles Jr. (Edith) of Indiana, and Joyce (Randal) Sheroan, Jr. Campbell all of Kentucky, and Don and Brenda Campbell of Florida; many nieces and nephews; and Brittany Betts, Henry Nichols, Jay DuPlessis and Matthew Sedlek whom he though of as grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
