Howard Wayne Millard, Jr.

Howard Wayne "Butch" Millard, Jr., 73, of Stephensburg, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. He was a native of Massillon, Ohio, but lived in Kentucky for the last 33 years of his life. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force, serving 22 years, where he served as an electrical lineman and Red Horse engineer throughout the Pacific during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a long-haul trucker, a volunteer firefighter, and an emergency medical technician. He was also a religious man, serving as travelling minister, pastor of the Body of Christ Church in Summit, and as an Elder in the Louisville Korean Seventh-day Adventist Church. In the last year of his life, he also travelled to Florida and Puerto Rico performing utility assessments in support of hurricane relief efforts for areas without power. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Howard Wayne Millard, Sr. and his siblings, William "Bill" Millard and Debbie Bernard. His is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kim Millard; three sons, John Wayne Millard of Radcliff, David Allen Millard of Beaumont, Texas, and Kenneth Millard of Kettering, Ohio; daughter, Donna Millard Shaw of Jeffersonville, Indiana; one brother, Danny Millard of Ohio; two sisters, Wilma Dazey and Marjorie Waers both of Ohio and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the family for the funeral expenses.
