William Raymond Cofer

William Raymond Cofer, 97, of Cecilia, died Monday, May 8, 2017 at his home. He served in the United States Army during World War II and received two bronze stars, and was a body man at Pate Motors, Tinsley Oldsmobile, and Wilson Oldsmobile for 40 years. He was a hard worker who liked helping others. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zetta Pearl Hall; two daughters, Carolyn Cofer and Doris Jean Kerr; his parents, Robert Cofer and Ida Kirtley Whitaker; three siblings, Robert Cofer, Jr., Louise Bewley, and Eva Harmon; and three great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Kaye Gardner; brother, J.E. Welch; sister, Pauline Kerrick all of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren, Michelle Nall of Ekron, Suzanne (Jason) Stewart of Lexington, and Regina (Ricky) Hagan of Vine Grove; seven great grandchildren, Amber Nall, Meghan Nall, Jordan Stewart, Jenna Stewart, Emily Hagan, Lara Hagan, and Kali Hagan; and two great great grandchildren, Levi Armes and Alexis Davis. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Chuck Darland officiating. Burial follows at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and continues after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
