Michael Carroll, 85, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Helmwood Healthcare Center. The Hardin County native was a lifetime member of St. James Catholic Church. He graduated from E'town High School in 1949 and was an Air Force veteran. He served on the City Council from 1972 thru 1981 and from 2000 to 2002 and served as Mayor of Elizabethtown from 1982 thru 1989. He was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Irene House Carroll and by two sisters, Betty Miller and Emaline Wease. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Jean Thomas Carroll, by three brothers, Sam Carroll and Fred (Barbara) Carroll of Elizabethtown and Tom (Carolyn) Carroll of Fayetteville, AR and one sister, Netsy Carroll of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Martin Linebach officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
