Lewis Martin

Lewis Dudley Martin, 86, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, December 23, 2016 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Rockingham, NC, a U. S. Army veteran, a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church and an ordained deacon at several churches. He was in the army from 1948-1953 and was stationed in Germany in the 22nd constabulary unit where he was responsible for a tank and it's crew. He retired from Lowe's after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Marion and Ethel Ellen Collins Martin and three sisters, Estel Taylor, Maxine Ussery and Juanita McQueen.. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lillian Goodman Martin, nine children, Naomi Cotton of SC, Norma Hilton of Georgia, Florence Porth and Phyllis Floyd both of SC, Carlene Farmer and Kem Dillard both of Elizabethtown, John Martin and Lenny Martin both of Elizabethtown, and Belinda Martin of Elizabethtown, his sister, Peggy Morrow of NC, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Kerr officiating. Burial will be in First Baptist Eastview Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 on Tuesday and after 12 Noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
