Billy Lee Cleaver

Billy Lee Cleaver 80, husband of Julia "Judy" Ann Cleaver passed on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cleaver was born on May 27, 1936, in Sonora, Kentucky, to the union of David Otis Cleaver and the former Beatrice Mildred Glass. He was the oldest of six children born to David and Beatrice Cleaver. Billy received Christ as his Savior at an early age and became a member of Sonora Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force and was an Elizabethtown Police Officer. Mr. Cleaver was the Supervisor in Hardin County of the Administrative Office of The Courts of Kentucky, The PreTrial Services. He retired in 2006 after 30 years of service. He was a Kentucky Colonel and loyal supporter of International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and The Saint Jude Children's Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father David O. and mother Beatrice, his maternal and paternal grandparents, twin daughters; two brothers, Teddy Eugene and David Ray Cleaver. "Judy" Cleaver his wife of 20 years is left to celebrate his life along with his children, Terry (Josie) Cleaver of San Antonio,Tx; Billy "BillBill" Cleaver of Elizabethtown, Devan (Samantha) Cleaver of Flatwoods, Pamela Cleaver & Tonyia Cleaver of Houston,Tx; Angela Monk, Algena "Gena" Cleaver, Leeanna Cleaver, Rolonia "Lonnie" Brashear (Jerrold) all of Elizabethtown, Leondas "Lee" (Debbie) Grundy of Utah and LaSteven (Staffonda) Cleaver of Elizabethtown; his step son, Leo "Ed" Pike of Lexington; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. One brother, Norman Cleaver of Louisville, two sisters Betty Long and Mary "Penny" Cecil (Reginald) both of Elizabethtown; his special friend, Roy Boone of Eastview and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Mr. Cleaver was known for his warm personality, humor, and infectious laugh. He loved the opportunity afforded him in PreTrial to help people especially, young people. Through his wisdom and guidance, he saw many lives turned around. He was never too busy to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. He often said not every person in trouble or in jail is a bad person. No matter what he was going through, he always said,"I'm great." The family wants to thank everyone for all the kindness shown them during the celebration of the HOMEGOING of Our Loved One. Visitation will be at Brown funeral home on Thursday December 1st, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM. The services will be held on Friday December 2nd, 2016 at 12 PM at Brown funeral home with visitation hours from 9 AM to 12 PM. Burial will follow the service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff, KY. Pastor Betty Long will be presiding over the service and burial.
