Donald Herman Bauer, 88, of Elizabethtown died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bauer was born on June 6, 1928 in Hillman, MI and settled in Elizabethtown upon his retirement from the US Army. He served in WWII, Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Bauer also served 3 tours of duties in Germany and it was there he met and married his wife, Veronica, in 1960. Mr. Bauer later retired from Ft. Knox civil service. Mr. Bauer is preceded in death by his wife, Veronica Czerniak Bauer of 55 years. Mrs. Bauer passed away in 2015. Mr. Bauer is survived by his son; George (Christa) Bauer of Colorado Springs and 2 grandchildren, Benjamin (Alison) Bauer of Elizabethtown and Michelle (Ben) Bauer of Colorado Springs, CO. The funeral will be Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:00 am with Father Dan Lincoln officiating at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery.
