Justus Edward Duncan

Justus Edward Duncan passed peacefully at home on February 20, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Duncan and Edrie Goodwin, his stepfather, J.W. Goodwin, two brothers, Bobby Duncan and James Duncan, and a stepbrother, Charles Goodwin. Known always by Juddie, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Brenda Duncan (Patterson) and their daughter, Joyce Duncan. He was a loving husband and father, and will also be remembered as a hard-working and good-humored brother and friend to his eight surviving siblings, Gustie Imus (Elvis), Shirley Dye, L.C. Duncan, Tommy Duncan (Carolyn), Lilly Payton (Gerald), Anne Curry (Tag), Martha Huffer (Wendell), and William Goodwin (Marlene), stepbrother, Kenny Goodwin (Faye). A 1965 graduate of East Hardin High School, Juddie was a Vietnam Veteran. He returned to the states in 1968, and retired as Plant Manager from Flint Group Pigments in 2006. Never one to sit still, when not fishing, he continued to work his farm in Southern Hardin County, where he raised cattle and tobacco, nurtured a large garden, and ran a small sawmill until early February, this year. Visitation will be Monday, February 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. A public graveside service will take place at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Benham officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Hosparus Foundation of Kentuckiana. Condolencees may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
