Russell Henry Howell

Russell Henry Howell, 81, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Lexington VA Medical Center. He was a native of W. Pittston, PA and a member of the Main Post Chapel and the DAV #156. He retired from the U. S. Army, having served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a prisoner of war during the Korean war and received 4 Bronze Stars. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Hazel Howell; a son, Glenn D. (Pam) Howell of Fairfield, OH; one daughter, Brenda Kay Burns of San Bernardino, CA; two brothers, Wilfred Howell and Kenneth Powell both of W. Pittston, PA, 3 sisters; Elizabeth Ridgeley of Adocay, PA, Marjorie Altier of Boca Raton, FLA, and Emma Jean Renser of Pittston, PA, six grandchildren; Tara Still, Jackie Burns, Athena Cruz, Justin, Alisha, and Collin Howell; and six great grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain Lewis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and continue Monday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Wounded Warriors.
