Wilma June Evans

Wilma June Peck Evans, 88, peacefully returned home to her heavenly father on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 surrounded by family. Wilma taught school during WWII at James Chapel and then Tunnel Hill School. She was a loving wife and mother. She loved the Lord and His love was seen in her by all that came in contact with her. She was a member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; Wilburn Wendell Evans; her parents, John Will and Willie Ruby Owen Peck; four brothers, Fred Peck, Henry Peck, Clifford Peck and John Peck and one sister, Wanda Epperson. She is survived by four sons, Wendell "Buddy" (Frankie) Evans of Bardstown, Herbert Evans of Lexington, Bruce (Robyn) Evans of Elizabethtown and Jason (Lora) Evans of Simpsonville; eleven grandchildren, Holly (Jon) Scheffer of Michigan, Heather Evans of Bardstown, Monica (Cliff) Hensley of Lexington, Michele (Todd) Large of Marianna, FL, Dean (Whitney) Evans of Ewing, Jennifer (Chris) Lohden of Elizabethtown, Jefferson (Holly) Evans of Louisville, Bethany (Mike) Page of Cecilia, Brent (Tosh) Evans of Shelbyville, Nathan Evans of Louisville and Megan June Evans of Simpsonville; nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews, including two that were like daughters, Carolyn (Larry) White of Sonora and Paula (Dennis) Lafollette of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 pm and continue after 9:00 am Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
