Grover “Mac” LeRoy McClanahan of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at his daughter Karen’s home in Tennessee. Visitation for friends and family will be at 9:30am – 11:30 am at Brown Funeral Home 306 College Street, Elizabethtown, KY. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30am, following visitation. Immediately following the service a motorcade will escort to Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY with burial service at 1:00 pm. Grover “Mac” was born May 21, 1934 to Allan William McClanahan and Margaret Lucille Lawrence. Grover was loyal to his country and his family. He served in the Navy as a young soldier and although he chose the Navy in the beginning, his commitment to the military led him to the Army. As a Master Sergeant he served 26 years in the Army including overseas tours to Germany, France, Vietnam, Korea, Dominican Republic, and Okinawa. He retired with honors.Grover “Mac” was an honorable friend with strong family values. He always placed others before himself. He enjoyed nature and the country lifestyle. He had an amazing sense of tumor and kept the grandchildren immersed in stories of all sorts. Grover loved his family. With Helen West he raised 5 daughters. He is survived by his family Louis and Pamela Roeding, Ronald and Karen Matthews, Kenny and Teresa Buser, Scott and Kimberly Kauffman, and Troy and Kelly Chacon. His grandchildren include Jeramey Roeding, Sarah Roeding-Cooper (Todd Cooper), Heather McMurray, Jesse Matthews, Stephanie Matthews, Stacey Bowers (Kurt Bowers), Kyle Cassel, Travis Mote (Amanda Mote), Ryan McClanahan, Cody Rivera, Tyler Bevars, Caitlyn Beard, and Carrington Beard. He also has 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson Douglas McMurray; He has 3 sisters Myrna Cole, Betty Minor, and Sonia Baxter and 1 Brother Roy McClanahan as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
