Walter Bruce Powell was born September 29, 1955. He went to be with his Lord August 23, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Goodman Powell, his father Walter Gene Powell, and a nephew, Johnathon Clint Powell. His is survived by five siblings, Elaine Sallee (Gary), Karen "Kay" Powell, Micah Powell, Trevis Powell (Sandy), and Shannon Powell (Dee), and half brother Chris Powell, 9 nephews, 6 nieces, 5 great nephews, and 3 great nieces. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. He retired from the State of Kentucky where he worked as a juvenile counselor at Lincoln Village for twenty years. He was an avid Kentucky basketball fan. He graduated from West Hardin High School in 1973 and later graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988. Bruce's passions were reading, watching the Cats play and playing basketball in his earlier years. He will be missed by his sisters, his brothers, many friends, a lot of family, but will be welcomed into heaven by God. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 pm at Freedom's Way Church on Tabb Road in Cecilia, Ky with Brother Billy Curle officiating. Burial will follow at Freedom's Way Cemetery.
