John Robert Weaver, 85, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, June 19, 2015. He was a native of Lincoln Co. Ky, and a member of Elizabethtown Church of Christ. He retired after 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired after 23 years from GTE. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Lottie Rector Weaver and four brothers and six sisters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorotha Taylor Weaver of Elizabethtown; his son, John Randall Weaver (Carol) of Scottsville; three daughters, Robin Weaver Risner (Bob) of Eastview, Roxie Weaver Osborne of Eastview, and Retta Weaver Wimsatt (Tim) of Jackson, TN; three sisters, Geneva Hawkins of Crab Orchard, KY, Wanda Whitaker and Vernice Fain both of Ohio; eight grandchildren, Kevin Weaver, Laura Rogers Shearer, Sarah Risner Miller, Matthew Rogers, Kyle Weaver, Allen Risner, Adam Risner and Zach Wimsatt and four great grandchildren, Alex Goss, Kayley Goss, Chase Shearer and Lillian Rogers. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Church of Christ with John Board and Ray Pack officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
