William Tapp, 90 of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, April 30, 2023 at his home. He was born on October 1st, 1932 to the late William Jefferson "Bill" Tapp and Berry Litsey Thompson Tapp in Springfield, but lived in Elizabethtown all of his adult life. He was a member of Glendale Christian Church where he was loved by all, was a former owner of Tapp & Chandler Insurance Company and enjoyed farming in his free time. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mae Sweezy Tapp; one son, William E. Tapp; his parents; his brothers, Sterling T. Tapp, Jimmy Tapp, Jack Tapp and his twin brother, Dudley Tapp; and two sisters, Nell Litsey Tapp and Berry Varble. Survivors include two daughters, Mary L. Hagan of Elizabethtown and Catherine L. (George) Gentry of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Heather Fuqua, Christopher Branstetter, Josh (Beth) Branstetter, Diedre Preston, and Rachel Collins; and four great-grandchildren. The funeral is Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Glendale Christian Church with Brother Mike Bell officiating. Burial follows in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 6 p.m. and continue after 12 noon on Wednesday all at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Glendale Christian Church Building Fund.
