Robert James Caspar

Robert James Caspar was reunited with his Lord and his Love on March 25, 2023. Robert, lovingly known as Bob, was born on November 3, 1944 to Dr. Francis and Ruth (Rieck) Caspar. He attended school at St. Thomas More in Paducah, KY and then Brescia College in Owensboro, KY. Bob was a man of great faith. His love for God and his Lord and Savior Jesus was apparent throughout the many stages of his life. His initial calling was to be a priest in the Catholic church. However, God had a different path for him. In the summer of 1969, Bob met Ann Jenkins of Vine Grove, the love of his life, and the two were married six months later in February of 1970. After serving in the U.S. Army, they moved to Elizabethtown to raise their family in faith, and Bob planted many seeds through his example as a husband and father, as well as the servant that he was to many in our community, including as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Once his family was raised, God came calling again. Bob and Ann completed the Diaconate ordination process of the Catholic church into which he was ordained deacon in 1996. The two continued serving together at St. Brigid, St. Martin, St. John, and St. James parishes. You could find the man known as Pappaw to his eight grandchildren wearing the different hats of handyman (Bob the Builder), grill master, and caretaker of a majestic and beloved garden that fed his family for decades. In these things and all other she lived to glorify God and to honor his wife and family with a great love. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife: Ann; parents: Dr. F.A. and Ruth Caspar; and brother, Frank Caspar. He is survived by his four children: Chris (Ange), Dana Noland, Beth Carter (Chris), and Mark (Kathryn); eight grandchildren: Conner, Evan, Katie, Jonah, Sophie, Ben, Cole, and Clare; and three siblings: Richard Caspar (Anne), Mary Fulcher (Guerry), and Donald Caspar. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College St, Elizabethtown, KY, followed by his celebration of life funeral mass at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church, 307 W. Dixie Ave. in Elizabethtown. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
