Jane Miller Lanz

Jane Miller Lanz, 87 of Elizabethtown, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. She was a native of Hardin County, a graduate of Etown High School and attended University of Kentucky. She worked for the Turner Hatcher Law Office where she met her future husband, Charles Lanz. They married and remained married for 66 years. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. During her early years, she was a bookkeeper for the Holiday Inn North in Elizabethtown, and bookkeeper and saleslady for Joplin & Lanz Company. Her hobbies were reading, walking, and playing bridge. She dearly loved going to grandchildren's recitals, football and basketball games. She and Charles vacationed many times in Florida and Hawaii for her love of the beach. She will be remembered for her penetrating smile, her many friendships, and overwhelming love of friends and family. She always put heart before self. She was a sheer joy in everyone's life, especially her husband's and her children's. She was a devout catholic and loved her Lord & Savior and will be remembered for these and many other traits, too many to mention, and will be sorely missed. Jane was preceded in death by her son, John Charles Lanz; a grandson, Matt Freeman; her parents, Joseph and Harriett Thurston Miller and two brothers, Joseph and John Miller. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Charles H. Lanz; two children, Steven (Leslie) Lanz of Elizabethtown and Leslie Lanz (Mike) Freeman of Lakeside, MT; daughter-in-law, Janet Lanz of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren, Heather (Drake) Sullivan, David Lanz, Chase Lanz, Sidney (Cory) Lanz, Josh Freeman, Jordan Freeman and Ryan Freeman; nine great grandchildren, Grace, Claire, Harriet and Charlotte Sulivan, Bentley, Elliott and Izayah Freeman and Stevie Lea and Quincy Lanz.
