Jerry Lee Bennett

Jerry Lee Bennett, 80, of Elizabethtown, passed away Friday March 10, 2023 at Kensington Nursing Home. Jerry was a veteran that served in the Army from 1961-1964. He was a retired Industrial Maintenance employee from Gates Rubber Company in 2002. Jerry was a loyal ordained deacon and licensed minister at Hardin County First United Baptist Church, where he served as song leader as well for many years. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Hazel Bennett; one sister, Jaquetta Inell Sheroan; an infant sister, Opal; an infant brother, Walter; and a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Bennett. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Alice Faye Bennett (Vertrees); three sons, Gregory L. Bennett, Timothy W. Bennett, both of Elizabethtown and Jason L. Bennett (Terrie) of Upton; four grandchildren, Kyle A. Bennett of Upton, Jessi N. Jennings (Johnny) of Buffalo, Cheyenne E. Bennett of Elizabethtown and Abigail P. Childress (Logan) of Elizabethtown; one great- granddaughter, Braylee and expecting one great- grandson, Noah; four brothers: Joe (Leila) of Cecilia, Jethro Otis of Elizabethtown, Julius Ray (Nita) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Bobby (Vonnie) of Dyer; one sister, Josephine Goodman-Hoskinson of Howevalley; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral is at 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 14th at Hardin County First United Baptist Church with Bro. Freddie Vertrees and Bro. Joe Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, KY and will continue after 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
